"I applied for a post of Manufacturing Operations Manager with Dudley Child via the Internet back in December 2009. It wasnt long before I was contacted via email to confirm receipt of my application shortly after that I was contacted by Stephanie to discuss the Post which they had advertised and to find out a little more about my experience.
In early January Jordan contacted me to discuss my previous career in a little more depth. 2 weeks later I attended a preliminary interview with both Stephanie and Jordan the whole experience was very professional and thorough the interview techniques which Dudley Child used were very good but very relaxing. I am pleased to say that I have now secured a full time position as a Manufacturing Manager at a multinational healthcare company. This e mail is to inform you of this, but more importantly is an opportunity for me to give you some positive feedback.
I have worked for 20 years as professional manager in the chemical and Pharma industries, so being in a role that was made redundant was a new and unpleasant experience for me when I left GSK in September. I recognise that it is currently a difficult employment market and therefore a difficult time for recruiters too; it is very much a buyer’s market and competition is fierce. "I was recently approached by Jordan Dudley, a director of Dudley Child, who had accessed my CV from the website in relation to a logistics position he was handling for a well established high profile client in my region.
I hadn’t heard of Dudley Child before and my CV was already registered with many leading national recruitment consultants dealing with positions specifically within the “Supply Chain and Procurement” arena. As I was seeking new employment due to unfortunately being made redundant, I was naturally pleased to hear from him, especially as at the time, I was not getting any feedback from many of his established competitors that I was communicating with!
As he was planning a day in my area to select his chosen candidates for the position, I agreed to meet him in order to explore more about the opportunity. I enjoyed a very constructive meeting whereby I was deeply questioned on my career history, skills and achievements relating to my CV, also my strengths, weaknesses, systems knowledge, situation handling, interests, in all, a full character analysis of my personality. Jordan was very professional regarding his scrutiny of me, after all, I feel that it is very important for both the consultant and the client, that the selection process fits for both parties; otherwise we are wasting our time. To me, a career decision is the most important decision one makes in one’s life outside of marriage!!
Fortunately, I was selected for interview. Jordan kept in close contact with me in relation to the interview style, line of questioning, full company details, their website etc, and information regarding the person who would be conducting the interview. I therefore felt totally comfortable, confident, motivated, and prepared for my interview. Jordan also invited me to contact him at any time, should I have any concerns, questions or worries prior to my appointment. This was extra special to me, as at times when you have suffered a redundancy; it is only natural that one’s self-esteem and confidence takes a hit at times. I was also invited to make contact immediately after the interview to discuss feedback in order that he could share any opinions and information I had learnt, to discuss further with the client.
I enjoyed a fantastic interview with his client and we shared so much information relating to my skills and experience for the role and how we could progress further for the benefit of the company. I came away feeling very positive that I hopefully would be selected for a second interview. Sadly, I wasn’t, Jordan had put forward some excellent candidates, all of whom could have satisfied the client’s requirements, which is great, and a testimony of his professional selection process. The client must have had a very hard decision making their choice! I was however heartened by the fact that I was so close, and accepted the reasoning without doubt or question.
In effect, this has encouraged my motivation to stay close to Dudley Child and their team as I continue with my endeavours to secure a suitable position. Jordan is tough, demanding, but honest with his selection process. I have no problem with that. That is how it should be in this present economic climate with so many individuals applying for jobs. If you are lucky to be selected by Dudley Child, you will know that you have the best chance possible to get that job. Many recognised so called “professional” recruitment consultants and agencies could learn a great deal from Dudley Childs’ selection and honest “follow-up” procedures in order to maintain a professional relationship with their candidates that they wish to keep on file.
I will certainly hang on to their coat tails and keep Jordan’s business card to hand if I wish to move on in the future. In the meantime, I am certain that they will play a positive role in helping me continue searching for my “ideal” role.

"Having recently been made redundant from my Scottish Divisional Manager post following closure of the Scottish Office of my previous employer, I wanted to ensure that my next position was with an employer that was financially robust and offered me scope to advance my career. Such an opportunity was brought to my attention when the team at Dudley Child contacted me to discuss a Scottish Sales Manager position with their client who was an internationally recognised Environmental Services company. Despite being based in Leeds, days later a Senior Consultant travelled to Scotland to meet with me and discuss the opportunity in greater detail. "Following some 20 years within the construction industry, I needed a fresh challenge ideally within a different business sector. At the outset of my job search I truly believed that my wealth of management experience together with a sound knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques would place me in a very strong position to secure a suitable role in many industries. After signing up with several agencies, I had a great deal of success with interviews and indeed job offers from within construction, however, my success was not matched when it came to persuading employers from other industries to invite me to interview.
