Executive Recruitment Manufacturing and Engineering: Lean Essentials
April 26th, 2011
By
When manufacturing recruitment demands lean ability in a skill set it, is easily shown that it means different things to different people. Consultants at Dudley Child Executive Recruitment Ltd often have to decipher whether someone’s understanding of lean is purely based around shop floor activities or whether they also factor in the larger cultural and people aspects required to provide long term, sustainable lean initiatives to be rolled out successfully.
Spot initiatives, where specific tasks are “leaned” can bring about the minimisation of waste through materials, space, plant, resource and time
Spot initiatives, where specific tasks are “leaned” can bring about the minimisation of waste through materials, space, plant, resource and time. Implementing a full lean philosophy means more than simply applying lean to each individual task in a business. Key elements required to empower a lean culture include; innovative design to provide a market leading product or service, continuous improvement following initial lean application to ensure that all available improvements are achieved, standardisation to ensure that subsequent operational changes are maintained in the long term. Over-riding all of the above is the importance for the program to be visually supported and led from the top of the hierarchy and a shift in mindset that harnesses and nurtures a lean culture where the benefits are measured across the whole organisation and each individual fully understands the individual and company-wide benefits of lean.
At Dudley Child Executive Recruitment Ltd we are passionate about Manufacturing and Engineering markets and understand that the skills and philosophy mentioned above lie at the heart of any recruitment campaign we get involved in. If you are an individual with expertise in Lean and/or Six Sigma and are currently looking for your next step then we would be happy to discuss your career requirements.
