The FDA has decided to award three grants to the value of $2M to stimulate the development of paediatric medical devices. The US market for adult medical devices is believed to have a value of $2 billion. In comparison, the development of paediatric medical devices is considered to be alarmingly small and as much as a decade behind similar devices used for adults (fda.gov).
