Overview:
As part of continued growth, we are looking for an Applications Engineer with good engineering experience to further develop customer relationships and profitable sales. Using best practice, you will build on your knowledge of Complex Machinery to generate sales leads, interpret customer requirements and ensure delivery of effective solutions and products.

Situated in Yorkshire, our client is a market leading manufacturer of high value machinery. Operating across a range of process industry sectors including Food, Automotive, Medical, Warehousing, Logistics and Pharmaceuticals, the company has an excellent reputation for its ability to deliver innovative solutions and bespoke production machinery of the highest quality.

The Role:
An opportunity has arisen for a talented Applications Sales Engineer. Reporting to the Technical Sales Manager, you will be responsible for generating and delivering engineering solutions for new and existing customers. Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying sales requirements and commercial opportunities through regular customer contact.
  • Building strong customer relationships using technical engineering knowledge.
  • Managing the sales process from beginning to end.
  • Interpreting requirements and providing successful tenders and quotations.
  • Collecting strategic and commercial information to expand the customer base.
  • Displaying strong technical competence (mechanical engineering).
  • Achieving KPIs and targets in accordance with company strategy.
  • Providing accurate activity, budget and management reports.
  • Displaying strong communication skills and liaising closely with other departments.

The Person:
With a sound Engineering or Manufacturing background, you will demonstrate the ability to drive and lead Technical Sales initiatives.
Your profile will display the following attributes:

  • Demonstrable experience of Technical Sales in an engineering environment.
  • Ideally an Engineering Qualification.
  • Maybe from a Design Background.
  • Knowledge of the Manufacturing Industry.
  • A consultative and project approach to selling.
  • Ability to prepare successful quotes, tenders and solutions.
  • Time Management and prioritising skills.
  • Familiarity with Sales targeting, KPIs and management reporting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills at all levels.
