UK technology product design and development company Cambridge Consultants have been developing a device that collects health data wirelessly via a single chip. The device can be plugged in to the USB port of a PC to allow data to be collated and integrated in to a customisable online health information portal (The Engineer).

This pioneering device will enable patients to monitor and manage their health via their PC. An example of the use for this device could be by an asthmatic patient with charts of their recent inhaler use, reminders for prescriptions or doctor’s appointments or lung function data plotted against their peak flow chart (The Engineer).
