Medical Devices Jobs: Surgeons educate and reduce waiting room anxiety through tweeting

Medical News 13 Nov 2009

Social networking sites such as Facebook, Youtube and Twitter are no longer just for entertainment purposes. Certain networking sites are now being used by doctors and surgeons for educational purposes, particularly on new procedures and to reduce the fear factor of surgeries in patients and their families.

Examples of this new use for social networking include the use of Twitter by a hospital in Detroit to report a step-by-step removal of a kidney tumour and the live video stream from Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables of a procedure repairing a knee ligament (Miamiherald.com).
With mixed reviews from both doctors and patients, whether or not this new phenomenon will catch on remains to be seen.

Dudley Child works heavily in the medical devices and pharmaceuticals arena remaining up to date with market movements and trends on an international basis.
