A recent report from the University of London’s School of Pharmacy in the UK has commented on the complacency over counterfeit medicines and medical devices in the UK. The report, written by Prof. David Taylor and James Davies have highlighted that the European Commission has identified fake medicines as “a growing source of potential danger”.

They stated that "In Britain this year fake insulin ‘pens’ and asthma inhalers have been found and, in early 2009 the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) discovered £500,000 ($824,500) of counterfeit Chinese made medicines in a Middlesbrough store,".
